A lot of people associate weight loss with cutting back on the foods they love, by restricting the foods they enjoy eating to achieve the necessary calorie deficit required to lose weight.
We know that by reducing our sugar intake, fat loss specifically becomes easier but as with all things weight loss, it’s easier said than done!
Nicole Collett lost 22kg using a unique strategy she developed when she became fed up of the typical, mundane diet strategies we’ve all tried. Every time she’d see a bit of success, she’d find herself drifting away from eating like a wellness guru on YouTube back into her old, familiar eating patterns. She’d slowly regain the weight.
Collett explains how she could benefit from simplifying her diet, adopting the same principles of The LEAF Method, a tried and tested formula for fat loss by Andrew Hill, a personal trainer who has helped hundreds of people to lose weight and fall in love with themselves again.
She discovered that by making a deliberate preference for nutrient dense foods, she could eat whatever she liked outside of that whilst following simple rules, such as o my eating when she was hungry. She quickly discovered how to understand when she just fancied a snack out of boredom or stress and when she was genuinely hungry.
Because she chose nutrient dense foods, ten different types of food in particular that are readily available on supermarket shelves, she found she felt fuller for longer and didn’t have the urge to snack between meals. Muktipack bags of crisps she’d routinely buy in the supermarket lay unopened in her cupboard for weeks!
The YouTube vlogger explained how it wasn’t an overnight change, it took time to develop the habit of selecting better options for food, especially when it came to indulging in her favourite high-sugar, high-salt, ultra-processed foods.
The ten foods the slimmer shared to burn body fat are easily found in supermarkets and the store own brand versions are generally just as good as the main brands but a fraction of the price! The foods Nicole opted for instead of ultra-processed, high-sugar favourites are:
- Oats
- Nuts or small amounts of peanut butter
- Lean protein sources like turkey
- Cheese
- Greek yoghurt
- Popcorn
- Potatoes and lots of other dense vegetables
- Extra protein shakes
- Eggs and egg whites
- Low-calorie yoghurt and low-calorie ice cream.
The foods are generally high in protein and focuses less on the calorie content. It’s recognised that the number of calories in a food is less important than the quality of the calorie and how useful it is to the body, how efficient is it in the sense that if you eat it, are you hungry again in a very short amount of time later?
Collett explains in her piece to camera YouTube video “I thought the only way to lose weight was by taking away full food groups like carbs,
“I thought I had to give up all my favourite foods.
“I couldn’t sustain it, I kept failing, I didn’t like the food and I’d end up going way off- track, overeating and gaining more and more weight.”
The YouTuber finally decided to pick a group of foods that she enjoyed and could look forward to eating while being careful to manage her portion sizes.
The dieter needed something convenient to aid her weight loss journey and by choosing simple wholefoods, she was able to sustain an impressive rate of fat loss over three months, eliminating 22kg of fat!
Nicole Collett lost 22kg using practical, easy strategies that she has been able to sustain long term ever since. Her diet became a way of life and by eating when she is hungry and electing to eat healthier protein snacks, she no longer had mid-morning cravings or afternoon sugar slumps.
And when she was on the go and in a rush, she enjoyed a high protein meal replacement shake like Herbalife Formula 1, a nutritionally complete, convenient healthy meal. Despite her best efforts, like all of us, Nicole’s busy lifestyle didn’t always present opportunity to plan ahead for meals which is why these meal replacement systems are so valuable.
Seven years ago, when she finally completed her weight loss goal, she’d lost a total of 120kg by following this easy process. With expert coaching, she could have achieved her goal much sooner which is why DietPal offers their customers free nutrition coaching so that you can achieve and sustain a healthy weight without cutting out the foods you love!
