Foods that are low on the glycemic index are key to sustaining energy, reducing snacking and ultimately Kickstarting fat loss, Andrew Hill, MSc has explained.
Celebrity fat loss expert, Andrew Hill, has revealed the “hunger-crushing” breakfast foods for busy professionals including office workers and anyone who needs to lose weight and feel great!
Dieters know how hard it is to stay full until lunch and for those on the go, finding a convenient, filling, high-quality breakfast is essential for maintaining focus and productivity and avoiding snack cravings throughout the morning.
Nutrition experts understand the importance of a meal that not only satisfies your hunger but also aids weight loss by providing long-term, slow-burning energy. “A balanced breakfast that combines protein and fibre-rich ingredients is beneficial for those who want to lose weight but also who have to meet the high demands of the workplace. Low-GI foods, foods that release energy slowly like wholewheat cereals, are really good for helping us stay awake and avoid snacks but it’s well known that carbohydrates can inhibit fat loss specifically, which is what we want when we say we need to lose weight.”
Dr Frank, a weigh loss expert explains “Breakfast is crucial for managing hunger and maintaining steady energy levels, especially for those who have to wait until lunch to eat again,
“A high-protein, fibre-rich breakfast helps control hunger hormones and stabilise blood sugar, reducing the likelihood of unhealthy snacking or overeating later.”
A beneficial, high protein breakfast includes one featuring high-protein natural Greek yoghurt and scrambled egg whites topped with shredded spinach. It’s quick to prepare and can be taken on the go. The protein keeps you feeling full whilst the fibre aids digestion and releases the energy within the food more efficiently helping you to remain focused, according to Andrew Hill. He shares some of his favourite examples of high-protein and high-fibre foods some with healthy fats, that can be easily incorporated into breakfast when prepared the night before:
- Legumes including chickpeas and lentils
- Quinoa, wholewheat grains, brown rice and brown bread
- Oily fish including salmon,, tuna and mackerel
- Eggs
- Spinach, kale and other dark leafy greens
- Walnuts and almonds and other nuts and seeds
- Berries of all kinds
- Avocado and olives
- Sweet potato
- Asparagus
- Brassicas including broccoli and tender stems
By starting your day right with a healthy, nutritious breakfast, you’re going to stay full and Re-energised whilst supporting your progress towards a healthy weight. These ingredients will help to prevent binge eating, snacking and steady energy levels to prevent the mid-morning crash.
But what if a solid breakfast isn’t for you first thing in the morning? A diet shake-up and exercise is usually the go-to approaches for those seeking to shift weight but for a lot of us, consuming a solid food breakfast first thing in the morning is an awful experience whilst our body adjusts to being awake.
Cutting out junk food and eating a wholefood diet is key but sometimes, finding a simple solution to achieve the same benefit of a wholefood breakfast for weight loss is necessary.
The NHS agrees and despite criticism from experts for being unsustainable, one approach offered by the NHS was this week hailed as ‘life-changing’. This life-changing approach includes healthy meal replacement shakes, such as Herbalife Formula 1,
Kieran Ball took part in the NHS-backed trial, said that while the first seven weeks were ‘horrendous’, the results were life-changing and he was able to reverse his type 2 diabetes.
Dr Duane Mellor, a registered dietitian at Birmingham’s Aston University, said such meal replacement plans make it possible to restrict calories where people find it challenging to do so with solid food and if they don’t have a strong grasp of nutrition education then this could result in a vitamin or mineral deficiency, which our body needs to make functions such as digestion and energy conversion work.
Meal replacement kits are usually fortified to promote hydration and to meet all nutritional needs in a balanced meal shake.
This is why you wouldn’t want to lose weight with McDonald’s milkshakes, because they’re not specialist weight loss tools unlike Herbalife Healthy Meal shakes and McDonald’s shakes are pumped full of so much sugar, they’re likely to cause diabetes!
Meal replacement diets can be very effective, as can other diets including low carbohydrate approaches.
‘The advantage of this approach is it can give people a break from having to choose foods and hopefully gives them success in losing weight,” Dr Mellor explained.
